Happy 10th Anniversary!

Ten years ago today, Mommy and Daddy got married. They might not be so
young anymore, but they’re still as happy as they look in this picture. As
they were reminiscing about their wedding last night, they recalled a song
from their wedding day called "I Will Be Here." The song talks about
staying together even through the tough times. Thank you, God, that even in
times when the laughter’s turned to cryin’ and the future’s been unclear
Mommy and Daddy stood beside each other faithful to the promise they made to
you and to each other. May they continue to honor you with their marriage
in the next 10 years!

Two Beds Are Better Than One

Last weekend, we spent three days re-arranging furniture and re-purposing
rooms in our house. The first big change was to move Ashlyn and Adelle into
the same bedroom. We’ve been toying with the idea for quite some time and
finally decided they were both old enough to handle it (the jury’s still out
on whether or not we were right!). So we kept Ashlyn’s furniture and bought
Adelle some matching bedding. It’s still a work in progress (i.e. we have
to get an actual bed for Adelle, put pictures on the wall, etc) but this is
how it looks today. We then turned Ashlyn’s old room into an office for
Mama so she could better separate work life from home life. With the free
space that left in the living room, we made a designated play area for the
girls, which they’re really enjoying. There is still some work to be done,
but we’re enjoying the changes already (except at bedtime!).

Once again, I’ve let a whole month slip by. We’ve just been having too much
fun to slow down and document it! We celebrated our nation’s birthday in a
very low key manner this year. We picked up some sparklers for the girls
and watched our neighbors’ amateur fireworks show in lieu of fighting the
crowds (not to mention the mosquitos!) to see one of the big firework shows
on the lake or river. After celebrating with Mamaw for her birthday, we
loaded up the baby wagon and headed to Hot Springs, AR for a few days at a
lake house with Nana, Grandpa, Aunt Paige, Uncle Jono, and Addie Grace. We
enjoyed relaxing in the pool and spending time with our family, and we had a
really great time at the Mid America Science Museum while we were there. We
also celebrated Mama’s birthday while we were there. There’ll be more to
come later on the adventures of late July, but in the meantime I hope you
enjoy our July pictures.

Happy 6th Birthday Adelle!

Happy 6th Birthday Adelle!, originally uploaded by James Douglas.

Well, another year has flown by and today we celebrate Adelle’s SIXTH
birthday. We celebrated yesterday with a birthday party at The Northeast
Louisiana Children’s Museum in Monroe. Everyone had a good time - from our
youngest guest, cousin Addie Grace, who’s not quite two - all the way up to
our teenage cousins and uncles. Heck, even the grandparents got in on the
fun! It’s really a great place for a party with such a wide variety of
things to do and a huge party room. She got a ton of great gifts including
her first American Girl doll, Kit, from Mama and Daddy (you’ll see Kit in
the pictures). After the party, we had lunch with Daddy’s family at Catfish
Cabin and then headed home to rest. Last night, Adelle and Mama went with
Nana, Aunt Paige, Aunt Tammie, and Jessi to eat at Bayou Bistro and then to
watch the Miss Louisiana pageant. When it was over, Adelle didn’t want to
leave! We headed to church this morning, and then came home for some of
Mama’s manicotti - Adelle’s choice for her birthday lunch! After a much
needed nap this afternoon, we’re getting ready to head to the movie theater
to see Toy Story 3. Adelle’s known for months now that it was coming out
around the time of her birthday, so we’ve been planning for some time to see
it today. Click on the pictures above to see more of the birthday fun.
